Phoebe Hamilton Staples Says "Thank You"

Saturday, June 27, 2009

I visited Phoebe at about 2:15 pm this afternoon in Room 1322, Wesley Long Hospital Intensive Care.  We talked for about 15 minutes about our lifetime friendship and our high school class.  She told me that she was expecting a visit from Susan Ellis Montague.  Mentioning Susan led us to reminisce about how the three of us begin our friendship as toddlers in Susan's mother's Primary Sunday School Class at Holmes Grove Methodist Church.  The room phone rang and I held it so that she could confirm the entree for her dinner.  I asked her to give my regards to Susan and told her that I would visit again very soon.

After kissing her good-bye on her left cheek I turned towards the door.  Phoebe then called me back, looked me in the eye and said "Ralph, please put a message on the website thanking everyone for the many cards, flowers, birthday gifts and prayers.  They mean so very much."

I assured her that it would be done.
